Street Sign Pole

A street sign pole positions a traffic or directional sign for the intended approach and viewing distance. Namkoo can discuss steel-pipe supports with a hot-dip galvanized finish. Define the sign dimensions, mounting height and connection details from the approved road layout.

  • Lane-direction signs: define the sign position and required road clearance.
  • Visibility: review sign height and sight lines for the traffic approach.
  • Junctions and interchanges: provide the approved sign layout, support arrangement and foundation details.

Sign Support Options

Namkoo Street Sign Poles:

 Street Sign Pole
Namkoo street sign poles support traffic and direction signs on roadside projects. Specify the sign dimensions, mounting arrangement and site wind conditions so the pole, brackets and foundation can be assessed together. Collision performance requires a separately verified support design.

This product is also described as a  traffic sign support, with steel tube construction and a hot-dip-galvanized finish available to the project specification. Confirm the material grade, coating and connection details in the approved drawing.

Configuration Details:
Material: Confirm the specified steel grade, section size and coating. Alternative materials require a separate structural and corrosion review.

Height and Layout: Single-post, multiple-post and cantilever arrangements suit different sign sizes and roadside positions. Choose the configuration from the required clearances, sign loads and foundation design.

Visibility: Specify reflective sign faces and any required pole markings separately. Pole finish alone does not establish the visibility of the installed sign.

Mounting: Direct-embedded and baseplate arrangements require suitable foundations. Confirm soil conditions, anchor details and the approved installation method before manufacture.

Support Types and Placement

Street Sign Pole
Select single or multiple columns according to sign size and loading.
Set the roadside offset using the project requirements and approved traffic-sign layout. Keep the support clear of the required road and pedestrian space.
Confirm sign height and overhead clearance with the responsible project designer. Requirements vary by road type and jurisdiction; the final drawing should state the sign position, minimum clearance and installation tolerances.
Where pedestrians or cyclists pass below a sign, confirm the applicable clearance and accessible route requirements.

Single-Post Support
A single column can support smaller warning, regulatory or direction signs. Check the combined sign area, mounting height and wind load before selection.

Multiple-Post Support
Two or more columns can support larger rectangular signs. Align the posts and brackets to the approved sign-panel drawing.

Cantilever Support
F- or T-shaped cantilever supports position signs away from the main column. Confirm arm length, connection design, foundation loads and the required overhead clearance as one engineered assembly.

Street Sign Support Selection

 Street Sign Pole

A sign support must match the panel area, mounting height, wind exposure and foundation. Namkoo enquiries should include the sign layout and project requirements so the proposed steel pole and connections can be reviewed. Do not assume a standard pole has tested impact performance.

Specification Checklist

  1. Material Choice: Confirm the required material and grade. Alternative materials need a separate quotation:

    • Steel: Confirm section and protective coating.
    • Aluminium: Check availability and design loads.
    • Fibreglass: Confirm availability and suitability.
  2. Height and Arrangement: Base the dimensions on the approved layout:

    • Sign Quantity and Area: Include every panel and attachment.
    • Arms and Bracing: Confirm loads and connections.
  3. Reflective Markings: Specify sign sheeting and required support markings independently of the pole coating.

  4. Foundation Options: Use the approved fixing arrangement:

    • Embedded Post: Confirm embedment and soil design.
    • Bolted Support: Check the supporting structure.
    • Baseplate Support: Match anchors to the foundation.

Support Arrangement Guide

Street Sign Pole

Choose the support type from the sign location and structural requirements:

  1. Single-Column Pole: A compact support for smaller sign panels, subject to the design loads.

  2. Multiple-Column Poles: Two or more posts support larger panels with coordinated bracket spacing.

  3. Cantilever Sign Pole: An F- or T-type arm positions the sign away from the column; verify clearance and connection loads.

  4. Portal Sign Gantry: A spanning structure for overhead signs, designed for the road and sign layout.
